Bank cards

Please can someone explain why I need a credit card and cheque card - is it possible to have just one card that will allow me to pay for an air ticket with added travel insurance while at the same allowing for my monthly debit orders?

Banks used to offer both types of cards, the main difference being that a cheque card pulls funds from your cheque account when you make a purchase and does not offer credit facilities like a credit card. Today a credit card is the best option - it does everything a cheque card does and also offers you a credit facility, includes ‘packaged’ travel insurance when you purchase an airline ticket and you can arrange monthly debit orders from your credit card and the choice is yours if you want to deposit your salary into your credit card account.

That’s good to know that I can get my salary deposited into my credit card. I am going to close my cheque account I think and only carry a credit card. Thank you for the advice and info.
