Is nothing sacred?

An international group of plaintiffs (including South African participants) is suing Meta, claiming that its encryption is a “sham”. They are accusing WhatsApp of storing and analysing private communications and that Meta employees can access user chats through a relatively simple internal request system. If true, this has huge consequences for us: around 93% to 96% of South African internet users use WhatsApp.

How else do they explain the sudden appearance of ads for bridesmaids dresses after a private discussion about an upcoming wedding?! We can tell a lot about the kind of data that they have on us based on the adverts that we are being fed.
