We have been living in Vanderbijlpark for 11 years. We never felt excluded and the people, of all backgrounds, are friendly and welcoming. I met people who left Vanderbijlpark and came back years on. Sadly there is a history of businesses/companies closing and also corruption, both by private individuals and the local government. Hence, a lot of people who live in Vanderbijlpark know hardship due to this history. Yet, most stay positive and Vanderbijlpark today is marked by entrepreneurship, personal services, and availability of almost anything. The saddest issue though, is the lack of reliable services by the local government, and that Vanderbijlpark is probably the pothole capital of South Africa. Still, we love living here - we believe it is because the people are down-to-earth and generally positive in their outlook. We would love to hear what others say and if they feel the same.
