Passive Solar Design

There are so many simple design interventions to be made to create a comfortable living environment in your home, especially if you live in the termperate zone.

This is an example of using thermal mass, controlled roof overhang, solar orientation and thombe wall for passive solar heating and cooling.

This short clip shows the sun in winter warming a dark coloured wall (thermal mass) as it tracks across. The stored heat keeps my house warm during the cold winter nights.

In summer the roof overhang shades this atrium and the structure remains cool.
