Table Mountain experiences

Hi Don, I lead quite a few hikes on the mountain as I am a Ramblers leader. Unpaid of course, but just for the fun of it.

One of my favourites is the one I call, Agatha’s Gulley, Camel rock and the secret underground enchanted forest. However, if I were to describe it, it would no longer have a secret enchanted underground forest. But the main route is up the first set of “stairs” from Constantia neck parking, then a left and up past Eagles Nest, to a gap and down and around up Agatha’s Gulley, under a cave overhang, then past the rock toilet and up, up, up to the top and thru to the Crenellations for a tea stop. Then on and past the Camel rock and down to Villiers dam. Skirt that and find the path to the secret underground enchanted forest. The forest is in between two sets of crags and the trees are underground between mammoth “worm holes” in rocks, gently on thru, carefully over moss and lichens, missing the hanging Spanish moss. Stop for lunch and then back to the jeep track and back to Constantia neck parking. I trust that this is easy, else join a Rambler’s hike. Chris Taylor
