The alarming evidence of General Khumalo at the Madlanga Commission of the alleged interference of some of the Hawks members into the arrest of Matlala and Molefe, has been detrimental to their reputation. Can their centre hold?
Corruption and defeating the ends of justice in the PKTT and GCI investigations into the big five cartel allegations, is a huge problem with these certain officers having a handler that is not Integrity or Justice. But rather alleged well known (to the Saps!) criminals. In nature, hawks catch snakes and do not “associate “or work with them.
We heard with bated breath of more corroborating evidence that Minister Mchunu and Shadrack Sibiya were involved. The latter even has a personal non SAPS “protector“ who has multiple convictions and who was photographed being with him at the Parliamentary Ad Hoc Committee. Also, that the investigators are at the end of their tether as their lives are threatened.
Truth is blood-dimmed with assassination attempts and successes and is fettered. So too is the ability of the investigators to complete their vital work. The Commission has a birds’ eye view of these flights of fancy when private and public persons feathered their nests with SAPS procurement deals and patronage for protection against arrests. Their report is anticipated with the public and civil society’s hawk eye on the necessary prosecutions to take place.
This reminds me of a famous poem ‘The Second Coming’ by William Butler Yeats with this excerpt:
‘Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart;
the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned:…’
