I have placed the following post on the abovementioned Facebook group:

“I am wondering if anyone in Midstream subscribes to the Daily Maverick? No, I am not advertising. The journalists and followers have a Daily Maverick Connect group. I have added Midstream as a Home Town Subhub on that - in the hope there might be someone that wishes to converse on shared interests. No joy yet. In case anyone is wondering, one of the Maverick’s objectives is to report on the truth (not misinformation as we might hear it from some politicians and shady dealers). The recent attempt by a CEO to bribe a Maverick journalist with kR60 to stop an investigation into alledged dirty dealings is an example of the sort of the thing that Maverick articles report on. I also enjoy reading the Maverick’s Zapiro cartoon satire. Comments?”

I will report on what response I get on that group. :smiley:

Results so far as on 12 September at 16:10: Five subscribers and ten likes. All except one positive. :grinning_face: The exception related to a concern about COVID reporting, I will ask why.

It appears that the one person alledging that COVID did not exist claims that DM did not report on reality. I messaged the individual to say that that I disagree. I also suggested that we should agree to disagree. The person says that he/she is subscribed to DM - but does not contribute any funding, having cancelled his/her previous payments after this perceived COVID issue. All replies from other DM readers in Midstream were positive in nature. As a result I am quite happy to grant the said individual the right to be wrong.
