There can only be one answer. Trump soils, contaminates, everything he touches, or even gets close to. It would be the gravest insult to the real peacemakers in the world since Kissinger was awarded the prize (and de Klerk doesn’t even get a look in here
), actually even graver. So, a thousand times no!
The thought of it really turns my stomach. No!
This article leads with an implication that there are two sides to this story. There are not! More accurately, this story should be about how he has total disqualified himself from this or any other award. His incessant whining for the award, his chaotic, war-mongering, divisive presidency, and the very nature of the Peace Prize itself, should demand an accountability, not an invitation to wonder whether he still somehow qualifies. He is irredeemably unqualified - period.
He’s the most militant US president I’ve experienced in my lifetime. The word ‘peace’ does not apply to him. ‘Reactive’, ‘divisive’ and ‘aggressive’ are better fits.
Let’s see; He’s using the US Navy to destroy small boats off Venezuela, claiming without evidence that they are running drugs to the US. He’s sending troops into US cities like Chicago and Portland, over the objection of the mayors and governors of those cities and states, claiming that they are “war zones”. He has illegally deported people to countries they have no connection to. He’s blamed Ukraine for the Russian invasion and alienated long time US allies like Canada. He’s threatened to annex Greenland, by force if necessary, and arguably made the war in Gaza catastrophicaly worse by giving Netanyahu free reign. His withdrawal of international aid will no doubt result in untold avoidable suffering. Giving Trump the Nobel Peace Prize would be an analogy defying travesty.
Let’s wait and see how this peace initiative pans out. The two sides hate each other so much it’s hard to believe it’ll work. If at least all living hostages are freed it’ll be a huge step in the right direction. Should it succeed Trump can always be awarded the prize next year. Compared to Obama who did nothing and got it within days of becoming president he’s done a lot.
Trump is not a peacemaker. He has his own troops deployed against his own citizens. He instigated an insurrection when he lost the last presidential election. He has spoken openly about annexing Canada or Greenland or Gaza. He is working on expelling anyone of colour from USA. These are the actions of a bully who gets his own way by force. They are not the actions of a peacemaker
Absolutely not. He could have stopped this months ago but only chose to do so now when the Western world started recognising Palestine (At last!!!) and he saw the writing on the wall for Israel. AND who says it is a peaceful resolution yet???
