Take a stand! (and an ovation)

From the “First Thing” summaries in DM today:

:statue_of_liberty::ballot_box_with_ballot: Zohran Mamdani has won the New York City mayoral race, despite enormous forces resisting his candidacy. Mamdani is the first Muslim mayor of NYC, defeating Andrew Cuomo decisively. Republicans the world round will be having their knickers firmly in a knot today. Nature is healing.

This is how one earns journalism stripes. By not giving air to ‘both sides’. Because one side has clearly advertised its position, and is abusing power in haphazard ways in attempts to enforce it.

I have no idea who penned the blurb accompanying the link, but the double dagger at the end was sublime. There is now an obligation to get that person a Bell’s!

I will happily take that Bell’s!

I’ll be honest, I think I get to write how I write (like I’m explaining things to my friends at a braai) is partly due to nobody wanting to be up at 04h30 to moderate me

I am glad you enjoyed it, and agreed 100% on your reasoning. When one side of politics is obviously harmful, let’s just call a spade a spade.

Your braai analogy works! Some of us work better without filters!
