Over twenty years since Freaky Friday was released, the beloved noughties comedy has finally gotten its sequel. This is just the latest from a bunch of 90s/2000s films that are being revived (looking at you, Princess Diaries and The Devil Wears Prada). If you could choose one film to make a comeback, which would it be?
So i have two 80’s guilty pleasure movies: The Running Man with Arnie which is really good fun, and it IS getting a remake by none other than Edgar Wright who has to be my favourite current director. Curious to see how that pans out - the movies are based on a short story by Stephen King alias Richard Bachman and the Arnie movie was quite a loose interpretation.
The other one is John Carpenter’s They Live, in which the late Rowdy Roddy Piper plays a down on his luck construction worker who happens upon a pair of glasses that allows him to see that capitalists are actually aliens enslaving the human race. Absolutely daft but also a scathing critique of the Reagan era - i would LOVE to see a tohughtful filmmaker’s interpretation of that.
