In her latest analysis, @Rebecca_Davis examined if the Democratic Alliance has gradually drifted to the ideological right.
We want to hear your thoughts: How would you describe the DA’s current ideological path?
Staying the course: They’re embracing true liberal principles.
Rightward drift: They’re moving away from the centre to chase conservative votes.
Pragmatic pivot: They’re just adapting to the reality of a failing state.

It was never really far from the right, and the drift is really following the unfortunate global trend. It does, though confirm, that the DA will never be the party of choice for most South Africans, so is dooming itself to perpetual opposition except of course in the republic of the WC, but even there…?.

I generally agree. Except, DA strength in WC has a lot to do with governance and service delivery, whichis what people want from local government. Regular visits to EC cities and towns, would make even long-term ANC etc supporters vote DA at local level, with their feet, if not at the ballot. At a national and implied policy level the DA has simply reverted to support for global right-wing politics and it’s fascist adherents. The optics are less than savoury.
