Hi 👋 I'm Sarah, your community manager

Hi everyone, my name is Sarah, and I’m your Daily Maverick Connect community manager.

My role here is to ensure you get the most out of DMC, so if you have any questions or struggles, you are welcome to pop me a message and we can chat. I am always working to make DMC better for you, so constructive feedback is also encouraged :grinning_face:

What else does a community manager do? Well, I am also still figuring that out. But mainly, this is what my day consists of:

  • Helping you and other users navigate the site;
  • Moderating content to keep DMC a safe, constructive and positive space;
  • Facilitating conversations;
  • Linking up users;
  • Supporting our Daily Maverick journalists on DMC;
  • and more…

Outside of my work, you can find me surrounded by books and plants, anxiously calculating how many points Lando Norris needs to win the Formula 1 championship.

:books: Finally, do you have a book recommendation for me? I’d love to add it to my TBR, so let me know below.

Morning Sarah - I hope that you are well? How do I post a story idea? the only option that it gives me is discard, store for later or keep editing. Thanks so much Colleen

Hi Colleen, thank you for your message. Your issue should be sorted now, please try post again :slight_smile: :crossed_fingers:

Thanks a million C

Dear Sarah

How do I post to an existing conversation. Where is the “button”? Thanks

Hello @SarahHoek

I enjoyed reading Cloud Cuckoo Land by Anthony Doerr. It takes you back and forth over 8 centuries with some unexpected twists in the tale. Also Covenant of Water by Abraham Verghese about 3 generations of a family in Kerala, India. Both of these are really well written.

Hi Marilyn, thank you for your message. You can click ‘reply’ to reply to an existing conversation (like you did here) or ‘new conversation’ on the hubs page.

You are challenging me here with some big books! Both sound fantastic though, and worth the committment, thank you :grinning_face:
