Despite the DA’s historical stance on transparency, they have refused to respond to questions regarding the timeline and motivations behind removing Dion George as Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment. Do you believe the DA owes the public a full explanation for this reshuffle?
Yes they are as our experience of all politicians is that they are more concerned about the optics than the reply and voters want transparency irrespective of the optics.
The DAs actions and reactions, and lack of, any, let alone credible, explanations are unacceptable and unethical. It’s one thing to fire George and another to replace him with the likes of Aucamp who is not someone the DA should be associating itself with. John Steenhuizen simply lacks the intellect and good judgement a leader of a major political party should have. This is yet another stain on DAs reputation.
John Steenhuisen must be grilled without mercy on this issue. He and the party are now behaving in the exact manner or the ANC, EFF, MK, and others. I will not vote for them until they sort this mess out.
Besides the fact that all DA commentary on the subject thus far has been a lot of bollocks, the lack of substantive rationale offered points directly to double standards and disingenuity, given the normally rapid response to others’ missteps, especially from the party dragon. Where they manage local administration’s, they are better than the rest, but as a national political party, they’re as rotten.
The replacement of Dion George with Willie Aucamp is really suspect with China being the biggest buyer of abalone and lion bones which Dion wanted to stop and Willie is known for his affinity for the hunters and lion breeders
This happened when Steenhuisen was in China. Transparency and a clear stand on these issues are required
I totally agree that Steenhuizen owes the public a full explanation, however hunting in South Africa brings in quite a lot of revenue, instead of culling to keep the animal population in check, bring in strict rules for trophy hunting.
Absolutely!
