As debt counsellors, we know that there is and has always been issues with the NCR systems. We are aware that there are consumers who remain locked under debt review despite their debt counsellors no longer practicing. We know that there are consumers who have been placed under debt review without their consent. We know that the NCR is aware of these discrepancies yet these consumers are still left on their own means to get these unlawful flags removed.
Needless to say, debt counselling is a professional undertaking conducted by trained and certified debt counsellors. We know the training involved and we know that it being such a short term course does not make it simple. It is grueling and hard (and expensive). It is earned. The first question is do we have trained and certified people who oversee, monitor and resolve disputes relating to our profession? In other words, do the people in the frontdesk of the NCR debt review dispute department undergoing the same training and certification to qualify them to handle debt review related disputes?
This is an invitation for all stake holders in the debt review ecosystem who feel and know for certain that something is not right in the institution mandated to run a professional and fair institution that deals with peoples financial affairs and livelihoods.
Let’s engage and built a conducive environment for our profession.
