I can’t help but be on the side of students and parents on this one. Summarily ending provisional registration in 2026 appears to be the notion of ‘education for all’ shooting itself in the foot. While the financial model may not be sustainable, the onus should not be solely on students to overcome the problem. The Department of Education needs to enable universities to accommodate students, including those with debts.
As for the violence, the new rules would have been enacted without a whimper of dissent, had the actions been less vociferous.
