Thanks for sharing your feedback. I completely understand. DMC does have plans to introduce in-person events where you can connect with others offline ![]()
Thank you for sharing, Lynette. You’re right, comment sections - and the internet in general - are increasingly negative. DMC was designed as a counter to that, a space where conversations can rather be constructive. If you are looking to get away from the comment sections, I would like to encourage you to start a conversation here on DMC about whatever topic is on your mind - I have noticed that DMC users are looking for solutions and positivity too.
Hi Lesley, thank you for sharing, I appreciate it. You’re right, the responses are slow to build. Something that may help: when you land on a thread from elsewhere and it’s something you’d genuinely want to follow, there’s a notification bell at the bottom of the topic. Set it to “watching” and you’ll get pinged when the conversation gets going, instead of having to remember to come back.
This is your community, so also feel free to start your own conversations around topics that interest you ![]()
Thank you everyone for your feedback. I am working through all your responses and prioritising improving this space for you ![]()
Agree with this - a weekly summary of the interactions here would be great. I get something like this in other closed, social sites I use, and it often draws me back into the conversations.
I was, and remain, excited about the potential that DMC presents. I think (I’m guessing, I don’t know), across the many social media platforms, that maybe 1 or 2% of registered users actually post anything regularly. If I’m right then perhaps this community is too small to generate a lot of posts and healthy discussion. I’ve joined quite a few social platforms and many of them are dead quiet despite having many thousands of registered users.
Someone else has suggested here that an existing platform, like Discord, might be better. That won’t help the small numbers but I might well, when stopping in at the Real Science of Sport Podcast community, pop over to DMC to see what is going on.
I also agree with the suggestion that the number of topics (and hence navigation) be simplified. Maybe just a single feed with an algorithm that (heaven forbid) optimises for engagement.
This has been known to work elsewhere!
I have posted a few times, however there is never a response or interaction so I am not too sure why you have the facility.
Although I love DM, I get about 2-3 emails from them daily, often repeating some of the same stories. This is a lot to deal with and I find that I’m inclined to delete many of these emails even before I open them. As a consultant, I simply don’t have the time to read all these, let alone checking in and contributing to DMC. I know this is part of your bread & butter, but unfortunately it’s the exact opposite to me. If I had more free time, I probably would’ve been more active on here, so it’s nothing personal. Remember, you are competing against DM, News24, Facebook X, Insta, etc., so it’s understandable if the traction isn’t what you’d hope it to be.
To be honest, I barely have time to read all the different DM newsletters I have subscribed to. That said, I do appreciate the email format because it allows me to scan the highlights and then dive deeper into the stories that interest me.
Between work, family, life in general, and the endless pull of social media, I’m not really looking for another online community to participate in. I’d rather spend my limited free time with my real-world community and the people already in my life.
What keeps me engaging with DM is the journalism. I value and trust the perspectives of your journalists, and those are the voices I’m most interested in hearing from. I get 3 emails a day from you so you are already the brand I engage with the most in my life
why on earth do I need even more?
I too have a major gripe!! I have spent time and energy and emails explaining it since December. This communication spurred me on to try and getting it resolved again.
I hope that they will get someone on to my disappearing newsletters soon and not an AI Bot.
Thank you. I will try that.
I have struggled with where the platform sits in my repertoire of media. I haven’t worked out its place. I live the idea, but can’t seem to fit it into my daily/regular roster.
Could be partly because I find it hard to navigate to find any topics that are relevant. It becomes too time consuming to spend that amount and often still not end up with anything “worthwhile” (for me that is…I by no means want to make it sound like the content is meaningless)
Not sure what the solution is. Sorry
millholm says it all.
I frequently intend to join in, then get distracted. For me, I need to get into the habit of joining!
I’m surprised by some people indicating that they battle with login. I use two separate apps for DM and DMC, and both are always logged in on my android, so no login required each time. However, the logos for each app are identical, which is potentially confusing, so I separate them in different spots on my screen to distinguish between them.
Thank you for your feedback, Rosie. I always enjoy your posts and engagement.
Thanks for your feedback. I have passed your comments on to our Insider team.
Thanks for your feedback. @John_Stupart, could you please assist in making sure @Yvonne_Hoy’s emails are arriving?
Thanks for your feedback. Feel free to bring your thoughts to DMC here too.
Thanks for your feedback. I understand, though I hope this is a less toxic space than most other social media platforms ![]()
