The Umtamvuna water system area in UGU DM,Kzn is in a service delivery crisis.
We successfully petitioned the SAHRC, and the Findings confirmed our representation that UGU DM is guilty of human rights abuse.
This was ignored by UGU DM, DWA and DWS, and the actions demanded by the SAHRC do not even appear on Agendas!
Currently, the crisis has been made worse by a failure of Eskom to supply power to the extraction and processing plants. Depending on your demand reservoir area, many have not had water service for nealy a month now.
Appeals and representations to many, many role players have fallen on deaf ears. The crisis is hitting about 197k residents and across urban and rural areas.
