Siya, who would have thought a rugby player would become a leader of national importance?! Thank you for all you have done for the Springboks and South Africa. There must be nerves before an important match, but we will all celebrate your 100th cap afterwards, no matter what.

I was at that Ellis Park game in 2018, when you ran on as skipper for the first time, which happened to be the first game I got to attend live. That was probably one of the more significant moments in Bok rugby, outside of winning WCs of course.

But probably my favourite Siya Kolisi moment has to be when you scooped up that wonky pass against France back in 2017 to score an intercept; here’s hoping for some of that sparkling stuff this Saturday.

Congratulations, Grootman and here’s to another 100.

Hi Siya, our wonderful Springbok captain. How proud you make us. I love the way you psych yourselve up by always singing in the tunnel before you go on the field. I think you even bring calmness for the whole squat.

Congratulation on this milestone of 100 test matches played in the green and gold - the best jersey there is.

You always play your heart out - I admire that about you. You are a stylish, wise, down to earth leader whom the players and supporters respect.

You deserve a try and a big win on Saterday. Enjoy it Siya and remember we absolutely love you.

Go Syia, go bokke.

Thank you for the thoughtfulness that you’ve put into leading our team, and the way you inspire and encourage young people around the world.

Congratulations on a huge milestone! Enjoy a tough game and come out triumphant on the other end. We back you and your team always.

Dear Siya,

As you step onto the pitch at the Stade de France for your 100th Test in the green and gold, South Africa stands united in celebration of not just a remarkable milestone, but of the extraordinary man and leader you have become.

From the dusty streets of Zwide to the grandest stages of world rugby – your journey is the embodiment of what makes sport transformative. You were once a young boy who could have been swallowed by circumstance, yet you chose resilience. You transformed hunger into purpose, adversity into courage, and a fragile hope into a legacy that now inspires a generation.

Your 100 Test caps represent far more than statistics or records. They embody a decade of unwavering dedication to the Springbok cause – a journey marked by extraordinary resilience. When a devastating knee injury threatened to derail your World Cup dream in 2023, you returned stronger, leading us to a historic fourth World Cup title. When critics questioned your leadership, you answered with humility and excellence. When doubt crept in, you persevered with the quiet conviction that has become your hallmark.

Yet it is your leadership beyond the white lines that truly sets you apart. As only the ninth player in South African rugby history to reach this centurion milestone, you have shattered barriers and reshaped what it means to lead our nation. Through the Kolisi Foundation, your work against gender-based violence, food insecurity, and educational inequality speaks to a commitment that extends far beyond sport. Your mantra that “there’s no freedom until everyone is free, no safety till everyone is safe, and no equality until everyone is equal” has become a call to action for all of us.

That your children will walk alongside you on Saturday evening, in the same stadium where you lifted the Webb Ellis Cup just two years ago, adds a poetic beauty to this moment. This is not just about rugby – it is about a nation seeing itself reflected in your story, finding hope in your triumph, and drawing strength from your authenticity.

Against a formidable French side, on their home soil, you carry with you the prayers, pride, and unwavering support of a nation. Play with the passion that has always defined you. Lead with the heart that has always inspired us. And know that whether victory comes or not, you have already won something far greater – the respect and admiration of all South Africa.

100 Tests. One nation. One captain. One legacy.

With deepest respect and gratitude,

South Africa

Dear Siya, Nick Mallet once wrote that his father used to say that the true measure of any person is whether they are kind and thoughtful. Apart from being our best ever Springbok captain and no 6 flank, you have always conducted yourself with kindness and thoughtfulness, whether on or off the field, earning my respect and admiration as player, leader and person. Your 100 cap milestone is much deserved - I will be cheering you on and hope you enjoy every moment of it (and come out with a try and a win!).

Dear Siya, in this troubled country, in this troubles world, you stand as an icon of honour, integrity and humility. We can think of no more fitting setting for the achievement of the magical 100 caps than that most intimidating of venues, the Stade de France, but we know you will conduct yourself with complete dignity, discipline and commitment, leading the rest of your wonderful team in your usual inspiring and supporting way. Amandla kuwe kunye nee-boks umhlobo wethu othandekayo kunye nomzalwana wethu.
